KIVA Zip Micro Loan

The FEDC recently endorsed Sunflower Borealis - a small farm with a diverse mix of value added products, for a KIVA Zip micro loan. The loan is generated through a crowd funding platform and since it went up it has already been over 30% funded. The FEDC is very excited to be a part of this program and encourages you to visit the KIVA Zip site and make a small loan to a deserving local entrepreneur. 

FWW Listening Session-Please plan to attend!

Next week the United States Army will be conducting a Listening Session on their Force Structure and Stationing.   As you may remember, they have proposed three options for Ft. Wainwright: 1) No Change, 2) Plus Up one thousand, and 3) Reduction of Five thousand. It is important that the community have a strong presence at the Listening Session conducted at Fort Wainwright.

The Listening Session is scheduled for April 22nd at 7pm on Fort Wainwright in the Last Frontier Community Center.

Public Comment - North Slope LNG Trucking and Local Distribution - Wednesday, March 13 - 3:15pm

The House Labor & Commerce Committee will be hearing HB 74 - the Governor's funding package in support of the Interior's transition to Natural Gas - Wednesday, March 13.  The meeting commences at 3:15pm.

The Chairman, Representative Olson, has positively asked for Public Comment from the communittee and it is critical he recieve it - strong statements regarding the need for lower-cost, clean burning natural gas in Our Community and strong statements of support for HB 74.

Alaska Department of Commerce, Community and Development Commissioner Susan Bell and Alaska Energy Authority/AIDEA staff will share what the LNG proposal means to Fairbanks, North Pole and the future of Alaska’s energy picture.
